Antefix does not rise above top surface of cover tile, decorated in low relief with palmette tendrils rising from ground line, spreading down and curling upward at ends with 2 complete turns. Calyx heart of palmette with 3 smaller leaves above seperates the antethetic tendrils. Head separated from pipe by offset at 00.090 m. from flared lip of pipe. Pipe cast in one with head, lip 00.072 thick. Head surrounded by heavy roll of pointed flame-locks. Locks across top of head separated by incised lines, tips in round; lower half tips in round but not incised. Ears laid flat against locks, outlines incised. Low forehead, small almond-shaped eyes with ridge for upper lid, incised line for lower, crease extending to either side. Deep fold beneath eyes encircling short square muzzle with flat nose, open mouth, eye-teeth rendered. Lead into which head set and held in wall has 00.04 m. deep swallowtail dowel cut into limestone under longitudinal axis of head. Iron rod and, probably bolted plate, secured head within wall.
