The entrance to the basilica from the north was via a broad marble reveted concrete staircase in a court created out of two of the former South Stoa rooms. The extant remains are of a crypto-porticus surrounding a raised, rectangular platform. The latter supported the columns defining the central space of the storey above. ; The same event which damaged the West Shops’ colonnade in the late 4th century also seems to have damaged the entrance to the basilica. An inscription identifies the same Emperors, Valentinian and Valens, as benefactors of the reconstruction work. The structure was no longer standing in the fifth century when a house was built over the eastern end of the crypto-porticus.","South Basilica","Corinth:Drawing:103 002::/Corinth/Architectural_Plans/103_South_Basilica/103_002.jpg::1800::1743","","Corinth","","","Corinth:Monument:South Basilica","","","","" "","Image","specific view","digital 2009 2653","Corinth:Image:digital 2009 2653::/Corinth/Photos/digital/2009 season photos/2009_2653.jpg::0::0","","Corinth","","Byzantine ""dump"" pottery","Corinth:Image:digital 2009 2653","","","","Furuya, Yuki" "","Image","","bw 8563","Corinth:Image:bw 8563::/Corinth/Photos/negatives/5000-9999/8563_sh.jpg::1800::1512","","Corinth","1956","Byzantine Champleve Plate","Corinth:Image:bw 8563","","","","" "","Image","","bw 8142","Corinth:Image:bw 8142::/Corinth/Photos/negatives/5000-9999/8142_sh.jpg::1800::1276","","Corinth","1956","Byzantine Champleve Plate","Corinth:Image:bw 8142","","","","" "","Publication","Corinth","Morgan, Corinth 11, 1942","Corinth:Image:digital 2014 11136::/Corinth/Icons/PublicationCovers/11.jpg::200::275","American School of Classical Studies at Athens","Corinth","1942","Corinth XI.
